At LAMONS, we drive innovation through three strategic pillars: Research and Development (R&D), Process Innovation and Industry 4.0, and Sustainability.
Our approach
Research that stems from the field
The starting point for any R&D project at LAMONS is the people who work with animals on a daily basis. Vets, farmers, universities and research centres share their real-world needs with us, and we turn these into specific development objectives.
LAMONS has been awarded the Sello PYME Innovadora by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, a recognition that endorses our ongoing R&D activity and enables us to access various forms of public funding for projects in strategic sectors. Part of our R&D is outsourced to prestigious public and private centres, with which we maintain long-term partnerships.
We dedicate an average of 9 per cent of our annual turnover to innovation.
Areas of research
We focus our innovation efforts on three key areas:
Research and Development (R&D), Process Innovation and Industry 4.0, and Sustainability.
Innovation in animal production
- Alternatives to antibiotics. Development of preventative and complementary solutions that help reduce their use on livestock farms, thereby helping to combat antimicrobial resistance and zoonoses.
- Support for vaccination and biosecurity. Products that strengthen the animal’s response during the most critical stages of production.
- Pharmacological innovation. Improvements to already registered veterinary medicines to meet new market needs, optimise their efficacy and facilitate more sustainable use throughout their life cycle.
- Management of heat stress and production stress. Solutions designed to improve animal welfare and maintain performance in challenging environmental or physiological conditions.
Process Innovation and Industry 4.0
We invest in Industry 4.0 technologies, automation and digitalisation to improve efficiency, quality and safety at every stage of the manufacturing process. These initiatives enable us to optimise operational performance, enhance traceability and offer a more flexible production process that is better equipped to meet the needs of a global market.
Innovation for sustainability
We are working to reduce the environmental impact of our operations by optimising resource use, improving energy efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint throughout the entire value chain, from the selection of raw materials to the distribution of our products.
